The Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc. recently held a send off party/ press conference at the Araneta Coliseum gazebo last August 30 for Ana Maris Arcay Igpit, Bb Pilipinas-World 2006, who will compete in the 56th annual Miss world pageant to be held in Warsaw, Poland on the 30th of September.

The lovely nineteen year old Bohol native, who grew up in Cebu, is a sophomore Tourism student from the SouthWestern University. She has a string of beauty titles tucked under her belt among them are- Ms Talisay (Cebu) 2004, Ms Kawasan 2004, Ms. Mandaue 2005 and Ms. Bohol Sandugo 2005.

Ana is hopeful that she will continue the country's winning streak in the pageant " Our bets have been at least in the semis since 2002, I hope that I will finally bring home the only major beauty title that has eluded the Philippines! I have prepared long and hard for this and I hope I will not disappoint my countrymen!" she enthused. She has been trained for several months by former Bb Pilipinas titleholders, Dale Carnegie, Fritz Ynfante and even had Polish lessons.

During the send off party, Ana wowed everyone when she was asked to perform the stylized T'boli maiden dance (wearing an authentic T'boli costume with a very large and colorful headdress)which she will be performing for the Talent Show. The routine was choreographed by dance guru Douglas Nierras.

As part of their four-week tour of Poland, more than 100 contestants will arrive in the thousand year old city, Wroclaw, for the Miss World Talent Show ( to be shown live on TV) .Miss World Chairman and Chief Executive Mrs Julia Morley said: â€œThe Miss World Talent Show is one of my favourite elements of the contest. Girls from every corner of the world gather to share their abilities, support each other, and experience an event of undeniable quality. We are proud of the performers we have seen on the Miss World stage in previous years and look forward to enjoying a night to remember in Wroclaw in September.

The pageant will once again hold fast track events whose winners will automatically be in the semi finals. Voting through text and the internet will also help determine the candidates who will comprise the semi finalists.
